Attempted abduction reported in Miri

MIRI: A female jogger reported that she was nearly abducted during her early morning run along Bakam road, here.

The incident reportedly caused injuries to the woman and has raised safety concerns among the local community.

Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed receiving a police report on July 28 from the local woman who was attacked by four masked men near the Maira Camping Site on the Miri-Bintulu Coastal Highway.

The incident occurred around 4:30 am.

According to Alexson, the suspects were in a dark purple Perodua Alza vehicle traveling from Kampung Bakam towards Bekenu.

Two individuals exited the vehicle and grabbed the complainant, causing her to fall and sustain injuries to her elbows and left knee.

The victim reported that the suspects were unarmed and that she was unable to identify them or the vehicle’s registration number.

The motive behind the incident remains unclear, and no items were stolen from the victim.

The police have urged the public to avoid speculation and refrain from posting unverified information on social media.

The public are advised to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or provide the police with relevant information at 085-433730.
