SIBU: The Women of Strength initiative, a corporate social responsibility programme by Attiya Spa, has expanded its mission to uplift women, particularly single mothers from B40 households, with the opening of its third branch at Hann’s Residence Commercial Centre here.
The initiative, which began in Kuching and expanded to Kota Kinabalu, now finds a new home at Hann’s Residence Commercial Centre.
Praising Attiya’s ongoing commitment to empowering vulnerable communities, Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah highlighted the tangible success stories of women who have graduated from the programme and gone on to achieve financial independence.
“The Women of Strength programme offers targeted skills training that helps women break the poverty cycle.
“This aligns with the ministry’s objectives to encourage self-reliance through income-generating initiatives,” she said during the launching ceremony of the latest branch in Sibu on Sunday (Jul 7).
She added that the structured approach adopted by Attiya has proven effective, especially for women who previously had limited economic opportunities.
“I encouraged Attiya Spa to consider extending its footprint to Bintulu and Miri two areas identified as having strong economic potential and a growing population base,” she added.
Fatimah also commended the spa’s professional standards and inclusive service environment, which cater to diverse customer needs, including Muslim women.
“When I visited the Kuching branch, I was impressed with the international-level professionalism and customer care.
“The Muslim-friendly setup, such as female therapists and dedicated private rooms, reflects Attiya’s sensitivity to community values,” she said.
She also urged local leaders and community-based organisations to help spread awareness of the Women of Strength programme, ensuring more women, particularly those at the grassroots level that can benefit from the training opportunities.
Attiya Spa’s expansion to Sibu not only signifies business growth but also reinforces the role of private sector partnerships in delivering social impact.
