KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has been officially appointed as Chairman of the Sarawak State Community Development Department (KEMAS) Community Committee.
The Letter of Appointment was handed over by Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang, witnessed by KEMAS Sarawak director Anisah Saidin during a brief ceremony at Wisma Sumber Alam here.
According to a statement today, the appointment recognises Awang Tengah’s long standing commitment and active role in rural development efforts implemented through KEMAS across the state.
“The committee itself represents a rebranding of the ‘Sahabat Komuniti KEMAS’ and the KEMAS Activities Committees, with the goal of fostering stronger synergy between communities and the department.
“It also serves as a vital conduit for communicating government policies and initiatives to the people, while supporting the delivery of early childhood education, skills training, personal development, literacy programmes, and KEMAS resource centres,” UKAS reported.
