LIMBANG: The newly-launched Anjung Usahawan Kampung Pahlawan is set to play a key role in building a self-reliant and competitive rural community here.

The entrepreneur pavilion is also expected to encourage more youth to pursue entrepreneurship.

The RM3.216-million facility was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan on Tuesday in conjunction with the 2025 Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri celebration organised by the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA).

In his speech, Awang Tengah said the initiative reflects the state government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing economic capabilities in rural areas, particularly among the youth.

“Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play a major role in increasing household income and creating job opportunities.

“With this facility, we hope to inspire more youth to boldly venture into entrepreneurship,” he said.

The project comprises 14 shop units, nine food stalls and supporting amenities, such as a management office, surau, public toilets, car parks and disabled-friendly features.

Awang Tengah also highlighted state initiatives such as the GERAK (Sarawak People’s Economic Movement) and Sarawak Micro Credit programmes that aim to empower communities with access to financing, training and business infrastructure.

NRDA Regional Director, Datuk Ubaidillah Abdul Latif, said the pavilion is a strategic initiative under the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) through NRDA to strengthen the local economic ecosystem.

“This entrepreneur pavilion is expected to become a hub for economic activities, creating space for micro-entrepreneurs to grow, market local products, and build strong business networks,” he said.

The launch was held in a lively and festive atmosphere, with over 150 local residents and community leaders attending the Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri celebration.
