Awang Tengah leads delegation to BIMP-EAGA meeting

DAVAO, The Philippines: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan attended the BIMP-EAGA Ministers and Senior Officials Meetings at Dusit Thani Hotel here today.

Awang Tengah, appointed as the Head of the Malaysian Delegation at the Seventh Chief Ministers, Governors and Local Governments Forum, is also the Minister-in-charge of BIMP-EAGA Sarawak.

Among the issues raised during the meeting were related to maritime, connectivity, energy cooperation, trade, human capital and border matters.

“Robust private sector participation is fundamental to achieving sustained economic development and growth. We affirm our strong support for the active engagement of the BIMP-EAGA Business Council,” he said in his remark at the meeting.

He said that to make BIMP-EAGA a vibrant investment destination, the region must streamline its policies and legal frameworks, enhance security and facilitation measures, improve connectivity, and fully harness its complementarities.
