TOKYO: Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan today continued discussions with Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) to advance proposed strategic investments in the aviation sector.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, led the Sarawak delegation in the high-level meeting at MLIT’s Tokyo office.

They also met senior executives from Airport Facilities Co. Ltd, Airport Facilities Asia Pte Ltd, and JALUX Incorporated to explore collaboration on establishing a world-class Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) hub in the state.

Talks centred on Sarawak’s competitive advantages, including its growing air connectivity, central location in Southeast Asia, and strong government support for high-value industries.

“The State Government is committed to creating an enabling environment for foreign investors through competitive incentives, skilled workforce development and strategic infrastructure investments,” Awang Tengah said in a statement.

He added that the visit formed part of Sarawak’s broader mission in Japan to strengthen trade, investment and technology partnerships, further positioning the state as a dynamic gateway to ASEAN.
