LAWAS: Sarawakians are urged to remain vigilant and not fall for any malicious provocations intended to undermine the region’s unity and stability, particularly amidst its strong and cohesive political leadership.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that every citizen must stand firmly behind the leadership of the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who has brought significant progress and defended Sarawak’s rights within the Federation of Malaysia.

“I have stated clearly and firmly that my support for the Premier, who is also the president of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), is unwavering,” he said after chairing the committee meeting of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Bukit Sari branch at Hotel Seri Malaysia Lawas on Saturday.

Awang Tengah, who is also the deputy president of PBB, said he is not a leader who hides behind sweet words but one who holds firmly to the principles of transparency and honesty in political struggle.

“I am not the type of person who pretends. I speak frankly, and that is my principle. The culture of factionalism is not part of PBB’s values, let alone undermining one another,” he said.

According to him, any attempt by external parties to weaken PBB and the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will not succeed because the party always prioritises teamwork, unity and the interests of the people and Sarawak.

“Some may be envious of GPS’ success and our Premier’s achievements in elevating Sarawak’s dignity and rights at the national level. But their envy will not break our spirit,” he added.

He urged all citizens to continue giving their full support to the leadership of GPS and reject all forms of incitement that could threaten the harmony and progress of the region.

“What’s important is that we continue to stand firmly behind the Premier’s leadership. Unity and stability within GPS must be further strengthened for the prosperity and well-being of the people of Sarawak,” said Awang Tengah.
