MALAYSIA’S most popular rock group in the 90s and 2000s, Wings lead singer, Datuk Awie, 56, is grateful that ticket sales for the Triad Concert, where he is scheduled to perform, have received good response. More than 70 per cent of the tickets have been sold so far.

Awie said that his agent hoped the concert ticket sales would be ‘sold out’ by the time the concert took place at Zepp, Kuala Lumpur on February 14.

“Thank God, the ticket sales for the Triad Concert is very encouraging. We don’t want to incur losses, achieving a break-even is good enough,” he said when met by the media.

Awie stated that the volume for ticket sales needed to be clarified by the ‘production’ team, adding that the VIP seats had already been sold out.

“We definitely hope that ticket sales will be ‘sold out’ because there are just a few left,” he said when met during the Triad Concert rehearsal session with Search Kid Din at his studio in Taman Hillview

Regarding ticket sales again, Awie said he also hoped that fans from all three bands of Wings, Search KidDin and Dragon Malaya would be present to support the concert.

“I hope fans will buy the tickets to watch the concert that combines three groups, which will also create history in the local music industry as it will receive recognition from The Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR),” he explained.

“This concert will feature a great production with performances from three good bands and the big names on stage and they (the fans) will be able to witness the receipt of recognition from MBOR,” he added.

Awie added that 20 years from now, when this news came out one day, fans who were at this concert would feel excited because they were present at the Triad Concert.

Asked about his stamina, Awie said he was grateful to be blessed with the strength God was giving him to carry out the concert successfully.

“I have a problem with ‘bloating’ and have already seen a doctor for an examination yesterday. The doctor has given the medicine, and God willing, in two or three days it will be okay again,” he revealed.

“As for the preparation in terms of stamina, I have a gym at home and I also exercise on the treadmill as usual,” he said, adding that he hoped he would not get sick and have a fever because it would affect his stamina.

Awie also shared that all the other band members like Din, Kid Search and Dragon Malaya were okay throughout more than a month of training in the studio.

“The important thing is to have the spirit, and the rest will follow after that,” he said.
