KUCHING: Three star athletes from Axis Petra Jaya Track & Field Club were selected to represent Sarawak in the Malaysia Closed Athletics Championships 2017 at Stadium TLDM, Perak from April 15 to 16.
The runners are the three brothers, Mohamad Afif Zulhusmi Alet (200m, 4x100m, 4x400m), Mohamad Adib Zulhusni Alet (400m, 400m hurdles, 4x400m) and Mohamad Arif Zulhilmi Alet (100m, 400m, 4x100m, 4x400m).
Team manager Jemain Tamby believed the trio will be able to spring a surprise during the tournament.
“All of them are quite experienced and I believe they can make a surprise in their respective categories,” explained Jemain.
According to Jemain, with the preparations made by them, it is not impossible for them tobring home a medal.
Meanwhile, Jemain said five other athletes from the club will also compete in the championship.
They are Ahmad Tarmizi Ahmad Sabirin (400m, 4x400m), Mohamad Safazzuan Sazuki (100m, 200m, 4x100m), Roszaimi Rosli (100m, 200m, 4x100m), Farizul Abidin Jamaluddin (javelin) and Nuruliana Kamaruddin (100m, 200m).
“We are optimistic that the five athletes are also capable of giving surprises to win medals,” enthused Jemain.
