KUALA LUMPUR: Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM Sarawak) has been appointed as a strategic partner at the ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Forum (ASUF) Youth Assembly 2025, underscoring its leadership in youth empowerment and participatory communication.

The appointment recognises AZAM’s dedication to empowering young people and advancing sustainable development across ASEAN.

The forum, organised by URBANICE Malaysia under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), will take place from Aug 10 to 15 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

Three youth leaders – AZAM Young Souls (AYS) President Theron Then Kai Yuan, Muhammad Shahrizan (AYS Secretary) and Micheal Larry (AYS exco member) – will represent AYS at the forum.

They will showcase high-impact Sarawak projects spanning environmental conservation, digital innovation and inclusive youth governance.

The delegation will also be led by manager of Strategic Communication, Media & Youth Relations, Mohd Hassnal Hakim, Youth Officer Havit Philip, and Youth & Community Development Relations Officer, Qhairun Nazmeen.

Together with their ASEAN peers, they will tackle topics including climate action, digital innovation, inclusive urban policies and youth-led governance.

“This partnership amplifies Sarawak’s voice in ASEAN’s sustainability dialogue.

“By sharing AZAM’s grassroots initiatives, from green enterprises to digital empowerment, we show that youth are not just leaders of tomorrow but solution-drivers today,” said Hassnal Hakim.

Meanwhile, Havit Philip said Sarawak’s youth are turning policies into action through various projects.

“Our youth will demonstrate how Sarawak translates policy into action. From mangrove conservation to tech hubs, their projects offer adaptable blueprints for ASEAN communities,” he said.
