PUTRAJAYA: Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak began its working visit to the nation’s capital today with a courtesy call on the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, at her office in Putrajaya.
The AZAM Sarawak delegation was led by board member, Norjanah Razali, accompanied by Chief Executive Officer, Ali Suhaili, along with several senior officers from the organisation.
During the meeting, AZAM Sarawak shared the organisation’s focus and commitment to implementing programmes dedicated to the development of women, which remains one of its key target groups alongside youth and rural communities.
The organisation also highlighted the important role of women in leadership, entrepreneurship, and participatory communication, as part of its efforts to strengthen human capital development in Sarawak.
Throughout the discussion, Nancy expressed her appreciation for the involvement of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as AZAM in supporting the ministry’s programmes and initiatives, particularly those aimed at empowering women, families and communities.
She also recognised AZAM Sarawak’s potential as a strategic collaboration partner, emphasising that organisations with strong capacity and extensive experience, such as AZAM, could complement the ministry’s efforts in expanding the reach of social policies and enhancing community well-being.
Representing AZAM Sarawak’s Board of Directors, Norjannah described the meeting as an important opportunity to strengthen connections between the public sector and civil society in empowering women as drivers of community progress.
“AZAM believes that women are the heartbeat of community advancement. We aim to expand programmes that help them build confidence, skills, and networks necessary to move forward.
“Collaboration with the ministry is crucial in opening more opportunities and platforms for women’s development in Sarawak,” she said.
Ali expressed the organisation’s openness to collaborating with the ministry in implementing proposed programmes, including entrepreneurship, social skills, and rural women’s leadership development activities.
“AZAM Sarawak has long championed community empowerment through participatory communication and knowledge sharing.
“We welcome the opportunity to work with the ministry to implement high-impact programmes that can help Sarawakian women become more confident, competitive and resourceful, ultimately contributing to the state’s development goals,” he said.
