BANDUNG: Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak continues to make its mark on the regional stage as two of its key initiatives, AZAM Toastmasters Club and AZAM Young Souls (AYS) garnered top recognition in the world of public speaking at the 15th Annual Toastmasters Conference 2025, held from May 16 to 18 in this Indonesian city.
This prestigious conference, which brought together hundreds of Toastmasters from across District 87, witnessed the proud achievements of both clubs, further solidifying Sarawak’s role in nurturing youth communication and leadership talent on an international level.
AZAM Toastmasters Club, which has been actively developing quality speakers and leaders for 20 years, demonstrated its ongoing excellence by receiving the Club Strength Award for maintaining active membership and consistent recruitment efforts.
In addition, the club was once again honoured with the President’s Distinguished Club Award the highest recognition from Toastmasters International for meeting all performance indicators. Remarkably, this award has been won by the club every year since the 2005/2006 term.
Adding to the pride, treasurer of AZAM Toastmasters Club Abdul Al-Azim Ismail was crowned Champion of the District 87 Speech Contest with his emotional and inspiring speech titled “Untunglah.”
The club also celebrated the individual success of several members. Chua Wei Ling, Maries Liew Ku Lee, and Rezuan Abd Rashid each received the Triple Crown Level 1 Rising Star Award. Nabillah Rafidah earned the Triple Crown Level 2 Shooting Star Award.
Hani Nurzaihanirah Zaini achieved the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) title, the highest accolade bestowed upon a Toastmasters member.
Meanwhile, AYS Toastmasters Club, a youth club under AZAM Sarawak that was only officially established less than a year ago, marked a significant early milestone by receiving the Distinguished Club Award from Toastmasters International. This accomplishment signals the club’s strong potential to become a rising force in shaping bold and expressive young leaders.
Ryshaune Lee, president of AYS Toastmasters Club, also earned the High Five, Fabulous Five Award after successfully sponsoring five new members, a reflection of the club’s vibrant leadership and consistent growth.
“We are extremely proud of this extraordinary achievement. It proves that passion, dedication, and confidence can bring Sarawak’s youth to the international stage,” said chief executive officer of AZAM Sarawak, Ali Suhaili.
“This is evidence that when youth are given trust and opportunities, they can shine,” he said.
These accomplishments underscore the effectiveness of AZAM Sarawak’s leadership and communication development model, as well as the critical role played by AZAM Toastmasters and AYS as mentorship platforms for the younger generation.
With its Movement for Progress spirit burning bright, AZAM remains committed to empowering youth not just as participants, but as confident, inclusive, and competitive leaders of the future.
