JAKARTA, Indonesia: A delegation from Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM Sarawak) and its youth wing, AZAM Young Souls (AYS), made a courtesy visit to OIC Youth Indonesia here as an initial step towards strengthening strategic cooperation between Malaysian and Indonesian youth.

The delegation was warmly received by the president of OIC Youth Indonesia, Astrid Nadya Rizqita, along with ten local youth leaders.

Both parties exchanged views and experiences, as well as discussed potential collaborations in various initiatives focusing on leadership development, social innovation, and regional Islamic youth advocacy.

AZAM Sarawak’s Chief Executive Officer, Ali Suhaili, emphasised that the visit is part of an effort to shape a globally-minded young generation without neglecting local values and cultural roots.

“Through the network with OIC Youth Indonesia, we are not only creating a platform for the exchange of ideas and values, but also opening a new chapter for joint programmes that can make a significant impact on youth development in the region,” he said.

“This visit is a platform to generate active synergy between youth from both countries.

“We believe this collaboration can spark leadership projects, social entrepreneurship, and digital innovation that will directly benefit communities,” added Strategic Communications, Media and Youth Relations Manager of AZAM Sarawak, Hassnal Hakim.

Some of the proposed joint programmes discussed were a regional leadership camp, youth initiatives based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), cultural exchange, and a Model OIC simulation.

Also shared were AYS’ successes in empowering rural youth through communication platforms and volunteerism, as well as the importance of youth empowerment through digital approaches and community-based values.

This visit is not merely symbolic but marks a shared commitment to building a more progressive, united and impactful youth in the future.

It also strengthens the resolve of both organisations to continue driving cross-border collaborations with youth as the catalyst for development.
