KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak remains committed to supporting government initiatives and enhancing community engagement to drive Sarawak’s Development Agenda 2030 and beyond.

Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee said AZAM will continue to be a catalyst for community development, particularly through its mission to encourage participatory communication.

“So as an non-governmental organisation (NGO), AZAM will be committed to promote community or communicate development policies.

“Especially when we do our activities, we will engage, we will go down to the ground, we will discuss with them and make sure the gap of communication between the government agenda and the public is narrowed or closed.

“This is where AZAM will continue to promote participatory communication in realising the state development agenda 2030 and beyond,” he said.

He said this during AZAM Sarawak Chinese New Year Dinner 2025 which was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian at a hotel here, last night (Feb 8).

Earlier, Hii, who is also AZAM Sarawak Strategic Partnership Committee chairman, said Chinese New Year is a time for reunion and togetherness, where families, friends, and the extended AZAM community come together to reconnect and strengthen bonds.

“And similarly, tonight’s gathering represents a spirit of unity, friendship and shared aspiration for a brighter future

“And this year we ushered in the year of the snake. Don’t be afraid of the snake. Because if we take the positive side of the snake, it is a symbol of wisdom, a symbol of resilience and also transformation.

“And it reminds us of the importance of how we adapt, adapt to the community and also talk to decision making,” he said.

He added that these qualities are very crucial in navigating the path of development and progress in Sarawak.
