KUCHING: The Betong Division Football Association (BDFA) is entering a new chapter after Azmi Abdullah was elected unopposed as president for the 2026/2028 term at its triennial general meeting today.
The meeting, which concluded earlier, saw the 59-year-old given the mandate to lead the governing body after securing the presidency uncontested following his nomination and the support of attending delegates.

He succeeds three-term president, Abang Suhordie Abang Zaini, who declined to defend the position.
“Thank you to all the delegates who have given me the trust to lead BDFA for the 2026/2028 term. I will strive to provide the best service and carry out the responsibilities entrusted to me,” Azmi told Sarawak Tribune.
He also expressed hope for support and cooperation from both new and existing executive committee members to ensure football development in the Betong division can be implemented more efficiently moving forward.
Meanwhile, Alister Awan was elected deputy president, also uncontested after receiving nomination and delegate support.
The Vice-President I post will be held by Mohamad Nizam Semail Abdullah (Refereeing), Vice-President II by Abdul Rahman Sapaiee (Coaching), and Vice-President III by Mohd Zaidol Mohd Zain (Technical and Competition).
All three were elected unopposed after securing nominations and backing from the delegates.
Saiful Hanizam Suhaini remains as BDFA’s honorary secretary.
The meeting was coordinated by Sarawak Football Association (FAS) Vice-President, Khairulddin Qalam Daud.
