BINTANGOR: A baby was among 26 residents of Rh Michael, Ulu Stras evacuated by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) here after their longhouse was inundated by flood waters today morning (Mar 1).
Bintangor fire station chief Nicholas Belulin said his men were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call around 5.55 am.
On arrival, they found that the longhouse was flooded with up to five-foot deep waters.
The victims consisted of 10 men, six women, three boys, six girls and a baby.
All of them were evacuated to a residential area nearby at higher ground. No temporary relief centre (PPS) was opened.
In another update, Nicholas said his men also assisted SMK Meradong to provide transportation services to three students sitting for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exam.
The students including a female, had to board a Bomba boat from Rh Rabong, Ulu Stras after the main road to their longhouse was flooded.
They were then taken to school with a truck to sit for their exams.
