SELANGAU: Upgrading works at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Penghulu Imban have been completed.
Tamin Assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang said the school is one of the 200 out of 476 dilapidated schools in Sarawak that underwent repairs and upgrading works under the first phase of package 12 of the RM1 billion loan repayment contract of the Sarawak government.
“I feel proud because the upgrading works for SK Penghulu Imban in Sekuau have been completed and the school has now been handed over,” Gira said in a statement yesterday (Oct 25).
According to Gira, SK Pengulu Imban has been constructed with 12 classrooms, a four-storey administration block, teacher’s quarters, and restrooms, with a total cost of RM 7.9 million.
He said that the new building replaces the old one, which was structurally unsafe for use.
“Now, the SK Penghulu Imban building is complete and looks beautiful, undoubtedly providing comfort to both teachers and students in their pursuit of knowledge.
“Thanks to the central government and the state government for the allocation provided.
“Also, thanks to the staff of Selangau District Education Office (PPD) for their efforts and suggestions to upgrade the school facilities in Selangau,” he said.
