SARIKEI: The ‘Back To School’ programme, organised by the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) Kuala Rajang Branch and the Service Centre of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kuala Rajang, has allocated RM125,000 for this year’s initiative, which will benefit a total of 1,100 students.
The programme, held recently, provides school supplies to underprivileged and orphaned children in the Kuala Rajang area, easing the financial burden on their parents.
The 2024 ‘Back To School’ programme for the Tanjung Manis Zone involves seven schools, comprising SMK Belawai; SK Abang Gesa, Belawai; SK Abang Buyuk, Jerijeh; SK Abang Galau, Rajang; SK Stalon, Belawai; SK Bayang, Belawai; and SK Tanjung Manis, with a total of 370 students from this zone.
Meanwhile, the Sarikei Zone includes five schools consisting of SMK Sarikei Baru, Sarikei; SK Abang Haji Matahir, Sarikei; SK Agama, Sarikei; SK Sarikei, Sarikei; and SK Sentebu, Sarikei, benefiting a total of 317 students in this zone.
For other areas such as Selalang, Kerubong Kerapa, Sare, and Muara Payang, the programme will take place on Dec 30, benefiting 348 students as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
