MIRI: The upcoming Bakti MADANI Programme (PBM) here is set to become a key platform in strengthening the relationship between the government and the people, in line with Sarawak’s aspiration to become a developed and prosperous state by 2030.

The three-day programme, carrying the theme ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur – SCORE Ke Arah Pemerkasaan Rakyat’, will be taking place at the Miri City Stadium from May 9 to 11.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari will be present to officiate at the programme’s opening ceremony on May 10.

Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ismawi Ismuni, said the programme is a result of a strategic collaboration between the authority and the Project Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) under the Prime Minister’s Department.

“PBM Miri 2025 is not just an ordinary outreach programme but a manifestation of the government’s commitment to realising the MADANI Economic Agenda and the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

“The main objective of this programme is to bring the government closer to the people through direct services, open up economic opportunities, and strengthen public trust in development initiatives,” he said in a press conference here today.

He informed that a variety of engaging activities are planned throughout the event, including exhibitions by government agencies, government-linked companies (GLCs), financial institutions and private sector players.

In addition, a career exhibition will also be held, providing youth and job seekers with information and employment opportunities.

Pocket Talk sessions covering topics such as health, education and cyber security are also scheduled to raise public awareness on current issues.

To help ease the cost of living, the programme will feature a ‘Jualan Rahmah’ (affordable goods sale) offering basic necessities at reasonable prices, alongside the RECODA Entrepreneur Carnival, which will give local entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase and market their products.

The entertainment highlight will be the ‘Konsert Rakyat’, headlined by popular local artistes such as Baby Shima, the Alleycats and Ricky Andrewson.

Other community activities include the Battle of the Bands, Zumba sessions, a children’s colouring competition, and a lucky draw offering grand prizes such as a Proton Saga 1.3 Premium, SM Sport 110E motorcycle, iPad and Smart TV.

Meanwhile, complementing the main programme in Miri is the PBM Subis 2025 satellite event which will be held simultaneously at the Sepupok Open Stadium in Niah on May 10.

The event will also include community clean-up activities, free health screenings, and exhibitions by various agencies, such as the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Social Welfare Department.
