Balingian churches and chapels receive MRP grants

MUKAH: A total of RM29,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants was distributed by Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi to churches and chapels within the constituency yesterday.

Among the recipient churches were St. Peter & Paul Church, Mukah and St. Mary’s Church, Balingian.

Other beneficiaries included Sacred Heart Chapel in Kampung Jebungan, St. Thomas Chapel in Kampung Teh Mukah, Roman Catholic Chapel in Kampung Sau, St. Joseph Catholic Chapel in Kampung Sesok, and Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in Kampung Teh Labak.

According to Yakub, the grants were intended to support ongoing activities and improve development levels at each place of worship.

He said this initiative is a means to ensure all religious institutions in the area receive appropriate funding and allocations for their worship facilities.

In addition, Yakub also took the opportunity to inspect the physical conditions of the chapels that received the MRP grants.

He expressed hope that the financial assistance would help facilitate and support the implementation of religious and community activities.
