KUALA LUMPUR: A 49-year-old banker from Johor struck it rich by winning the RM10.38 million Toto 4D Jackpot 1, thanks to a combination of his identity card number and a number he described as ‘godsent’.
“The winner purchased a System 4 ticket and walked away with a whopping RM10,382,079.25 in Jackpot 1 prize money, plus an additional RM672 in System Play bonus,” STM Lottery said in a statement.
The lucky winner, a long-time Toto player, revealed that his winning pair of numbers, ‘3866 & 5899’, were inspired by a spiritual experience during Wesak Day.
“I went to a temple to make offerings to express my gratitude and devotion to Buddha. While there, I bought a lucky number incense, which displayed a few numbers when it burned. I combined those with my IC number and bet on them,” he said when collecting his prize at the STM Lottery head office in Kuala Lumpur.
He added that he had consistently bet on the same number combination over six consecutive draws — a decision that ultimately paid off.
Despite becoming a multi-millionaire overnight, the banker has no plans to retire.
“I will continue working, but I also plan to travel the world with my wife and create unforgettable memories,” he shared.
In a related win just days earlier, on May 31, a total of 110 lucky winners from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Sarawak shared RM28,069,403 in Jackpot 1 prizes from the total RM34,511,559.64 pool through i-System tickets, highlighting an extraordinary streak of good fortune for Toto 4D Jackpot players.
