KUCHING: The Bantuan Awal Persekolahan (BAP) programme will continue in 2026 with a one-off payment of RM150 to be distributed to more than 5.2 million school students nationwide including Form Six students.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) said the assistance is aimed at easing the financial burden on families in preparing essential school supplies ahead of the new academic year.
For 2026, the distribution of the aid will revert to cash disbursement at schools through scheduled meetings between teachers and parents.
This approach is to ensure more effective delivery of the assistance while also strengthening collaboration and communication between teachers, students and parents.
The ministry said the continued implementation of the programme reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding students’ welfare and ensuring the continuity of quality education.
