SARIKEI: A total of RM200,000 has been allocated under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) programme for the upgrading of the Meranti basketball court here.
The contract was handed over by Sarikei District Council assistant engineer Joviana Joklin, to the respective contractor and witnessed by Kapitan Ling Dien Yong, representing Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability and Sarikei MP.
Previously, Huang had allocated RM1.35 million for the stadium construction project, bringing the total allocation to RM1.55 million.
Meanwhile, Repok Basketball Club chairman Lau Tung Kiong said basketball fans appreciate the help that has been extended and always give full support to Huang in his efforts to improve the skills and development of basketball in the area.
