SEBAUH: Construction of the Batang Kemena Bridge has now reached 60.44 per cent completion.
Minister of Food Industry, Commodities, and Regional Development and Kemena assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, visited the Batang Kemena Bridge project on Sunday.
The 728.56-metre-long bridge is expected to be fully completed by December this year, significantly enhancing infrastructure connectivity and improving travel efficiency for the local community.
During the visit, Dr Rundi received a briefing from the Public Works Department (PWD) Sarawak director Dr Cassidy Morris, regarding the project’s progress and measures taken to ensure its completion according to schedule.
This project previously faced delays due to issues with the previous contractor. However, the appointment of a new contractor has accelerated construction.
In May last year, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the project was 3.64 per cent ahead of schedule, instilling confidence that it could be completed before Christmas this year.
The Batang Kemena Bridge is part of the state government’s efforts to improve infrastructure in rural areas and is expected to bring significant economic benefits and enhance the well-being of residents here.
