BINTULU: Morning routines along Batang Kemena riverfront were abruptly disrupted today when members of the public discovered the body of an unidentified man floating in the river.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Bintulu station were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 10.36 am to assist in retrieving the body.
Upon arrival, the team confirmed that a male body was floating in the river near the ‘pasar tamu’ (weekly market) area, a location usually bustling with activity.
Firefighters then retrieved the body and brought it to the jetty, where it was handed over to the police for further investigation.
The operation ended at 11.16 am.
Circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
