KUCHING: The Batu Kawa Fun Run 2026 will make its debut on May 3 at MJC, Batu Kawa, bringing together runners, families and community members for a morning of fitness and volunteer-driven camaraderie.
Organised by the Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (RELA) Desa Wira, Batu Kawa, through AJK RELA Desa Wira, and co-organised by Y Sandals, the event invites the public to take part in a fun run featuring 3km and 5km distances. It is suitable for first-timers, families, casual walkers and seasoned runners alike.
In a statement issued recently, the organisers said that beyond promoting an active lifestyle, the Batu Kawa Fun Run 2026 also carries a meaningful mission to encourage public support for RELA Desa Wira, a community-based volunteer force in Batu Kawa.
They added that the event aims to strengthen community ties, highlight the role of volunteerism and provide a platform for residents to participate in a positive, safe and uplifting activity together.
Adding to the excitement, the statement noted that large-scale fun runs are rarely held at MJC Kuching, making the event a special highlight for the local running community and an opportunity not to be missed.
The event is expected to attract strong community participation, with Deputy Premier Sarawak Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian tentatively named as guest of honour, underscoring the importance of the initiative and the spirit of community togetherness.
Participants can also look forward to added excitement on event day, with co-organiser Y Sandals sponsoring 10 sets of lucky draw prizes.
In addition, all participants will receive special discount vouchers, while further announcements on lucky draw items will be released from time to time. The public is encouraged to stay tuned for updates from the organisers.
Registration is now open and will close on Mar 31, 2026 at 11.59pm.
Multiple registration options are available, allowing participants to choose entitlements that best suit their preferences.
Registration packages include Category A (RM50) with a tee, medal and bib; Category B (RM35) with a tee and bib; Category C (RM25) with a medal and bib; and Category D (RM15) with a bib only.
