KUCHING: Batu Kawa Min Lit Secondary School is now accepting enrollments for Form One for the 2026 academic year.

And the response has been overwhelming since registration opened, underscoring the school’s holistic approach to education, encompassing morals, intellect, physical health, social responsibility and aesthetics.

“In addition to academic excellence, the school actively promotes quality education and digital transformation, aiming to cultivate students’ knowledge and skills while fostering responsibility and a global outlook,” said principal Lai Soh Ching.

“The school will open two Form One classes in the upcoming year, with a total intake of 60 students. As spaces are limited, parents and students are encouraged to register early to ensure a place.”

Batu Kawa Min Lit Secondary School has long been dedicated to easing financial pressures for families through a variety of scholarships and financial aid options.

“Scholarships include a full waiver of tuition and miscellaneous fees for students with an annual average of 85 and above, renewable until senior middle school graduation.

“Students with averages between 80 and 84.99 are eligible for a tuition fee waiver.

“Both scholarships require students to maintain an annual average of at least 80 with exemplary conduct,” she said.

Further financial assistance is available for families with multiple children enrolling at the school, with the third and subsequent siblings receiving full tuition fee waivers.

“Staff members’ children also enjoy full fee exemption. Students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds can apply for financial aid to cover all or part of their tuition and miscellaneous fees.

A notable initiative of the school is the six-year full exemption from tuition and miscellaneous fees for all non-Chinese students, reflecting its inclusive approach to education and its welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds.

Starting January 1, 2026, the school will introduce two new scholarships. Children of teachers from ten primary schools in the Batu Kawa district will be eligible for a 50 per cent fee reduction.

These schools include SJK(C) Chung Pangkalan Baru, SJK(C) Chung Hua Stapok, SJK(C) Chung Hua Rantau Panjang, and others in the region.

Additionally, students with outstanding achievements in state, national, or international sports competitions can apply for the Sports Excellence Scholarship, which provides a 50 percent reduction in fees.
