BAU: Community and ethnic leaders (KMKK) here recently gathered for a seminar that highlighted the importance of progressive leadership and fostering unity within local communities.
Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the event provided an important platform to strengthen knowledge, understanding, and leadership skills among KMKK members.
“The talks and discussions offered valuable insights into responsibilities, challenges, and new approaches to empowering grassroots leadership,” he said on Thursday (Oct 16).
He added that the Sarawak government would continue to support rural communities through strategic initiatives under the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK12), covering infrastructure, education, health, and economic development.
Looking ahead to the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (RMK13), Henry stressed the vital role of KMKK in ensuring government policies and action plans benefit rural communities and serve as a key link between the government and the people.
Bau District Officer Eddy Nayoi said village leaders must adapt their roles with the times to foster dynamic and competitive leadership.
“I urge everyone to work together and unite in strengthening KMKK’s role, in line with this year’s seminar theme, ‘Progressive KMKK Leadership: Pillar of Unity, Social Cohesion, and Community Development’, he said.
