BAU: Two successful cases involving three arrests were recorded under special operations conducted in the district between October 2025 and February 2026 to curb the smuggling of stolen vehicles into neighbouring countries.

Bau police chief DSP Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the first case involved the arrest of one local man, while the second led to the detention of two Indonesian nationals.

He said all three have been charged under Section 379A of the Penal Code.

The successes were achieved through the Crime Prevention Operation and “Op Lejang Khas”, launched to monitor routes frequently used as illegal crossings, particularly in oil palm plantation areas.

“Several routes, particularly in oil palm plantation areas identified as frequently used as illegal crossings, were placed under close monitoring.

“Integrated patrols and periodic surveillance were carried out involving all elements under the Bau district police headquarters (IPD),” he said in a statement.

Mohd Haide reminded the public not to get involved in vehicle theft activities, adding that police would continue to intensify enforcement efforts against cross-border smuggling.

Those with information related to vehicle theft may contact IPD Bau at 082-763311 or the nearest police station.
