KUCHING: The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching 2 (BCCK 2) project is expected to be completed by the end of December 2027, earlier than its original target of March 31, 2028.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the project would reinforce Kuching’s role as a regional hub for international conventions and events.
“This is a strategic initiative by the Sarawak Government to strengthen our infrastructure and global competitiveness under PCDS 2030,” he said during a site visit on Thursday.
According to the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD), BCCK 2, designed to host up to 9,500 people at a time, is expected to drive growth in tourism, business events and the broader economy.
Construction on the project officially commenced on April 30 this year.
Uggah, who is also the Infrastructure and Port Development Minister, expressed satisfaction with the current pace of physical progress at the project site.
He added that large-scale developments like BCCK 2 reflect the government’s long-term commitment to sustainable and impactful infrastructure.
