KUCHING: The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) carried out a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative at Rumah Sri Kenangan on Tuesday, contributing essential items and distributing food to residents in conjunction with the month of Ramadan.
As part of the initiative, BCCK donated bedsheets to enhance the comfort and wellbeing of the home’s elderly residents.
The centre’s culinary team also prepared bubur lambuk, a traditional Ramadan dish, and distributed it to residents in time for the breaking of fast.
BCCK chief operating officer Rayner Simon said the visit was not only about providing material assistance but also about strengthening human connections during the holy month.
“Ramadan reminds us to pause and reflect on our blessings, and more importantly, to share them.
“Our visit to Rumah Sri Kenangan is a small gesture of appreciation and care for the elderly residents who have contributed so much to society throughout their lives,” he said.
Rayner expressed hope that the initiative would bring comfort, joy and a sense of companionship to the residents.
Meanwhile, executive chef Tawfeeq Seow said the preparation of bubur lambuk for the residents carried special meaning for the culinary team.
“Ramadan is a season where food carries meaning beyond nourishment as it represents care, sharing and togetherness.
“Our team prepared the bubur lambuk with sincerity and attention, hoping it would bring warmth and comfort to the residents during the breaking of fast,” he said.
Through the initiative, BCCK reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and uplifting the local community through meaningful engagement and charitable activities.
The convention centre also expressed hope that such efforts would inspire others to embrace the values of generosity, compassion and unity during the holy month of Ramadan.
