KUCHING: Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) will usher in the Year of the Horse with an eight-course Chinese New Year reunion dinner menu at The Raintree Restaurant next month.

The specially curated dinner is designed for families, friends and corporate groups seeking a meaningful gathering to celebrate Chinese New Year together in a warm, festive setting.

BCCK Chief Operating Officer, Rayner Simon, said Chinese New Year is a time centred on togetherness, comfort and shared moments around the dining table with loved ones.

“The reunion menu reflects BCCK’s commitment to creating a welcoming atmosphere where guests feel cared for, whether celebrating with family members or hosting company dinners,” he said in a press statement on Wednesday.

The reunion dinner will be served on Feb 16 from 6pm to 10pm.

“The eight-course menu combines familiar Chinese New Year favourites with comforting flavours, thoughtfully crafted to suit local palates while retaining traditional festive significance.

“Among the highlights is Prosperity Yee Sang with Salmon Gravlax, symbolising abundance and good fortune, and enjoyed as a shared ritual during the reunion dinner.

“Also featured is Eight Treasures Crab Meat with Fish Lip and Dried Scallop, offering rich textures and flavours associated with prosperity and celebration,”he said.

Guests can also enjoy Roasted Duck with Orange Sauce and Teochew-style Steamed Seabass, classic dishes commonly associated with Chinese New Year feasts.

Adding a Sarawakian touch, the menu includes BCCK’s Fried Kolo Mee with BBQ Chicken, Fried Garlic and Pickled Chillies, blending tradition with local familiarity.

Executive Chef Tawfeeq Seow said the set menu was designed for sharing, focusing on good flavours, generous portions and dishes that feel meaningful for the festive occasion.

He added that the menu balances classic festive items with familiar tastes, ensuring the meal feels celebratory yet comforting for guests of all ages.

“Dessert concludes the dinner with Peach Raisin and Snow Fungus paired with Matcha Jelly, offering a light and refreshing finish to the eight-course spread.

“The Chinese New Year reunion set menu is priced at RM1,088+ for ten persons and RM688+ for five persons, catering to different group sizes,”he said.

Bookings open from January 7, with reservations available online via BCCK’s. The  booking cut-off date is February 10.
