KUCHING: The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) closed 2025 with a full calendar of conferences, exhibitions, banquets and public programmes, reinforcing Kuching’s role as Sarawak’s central business events hub and contributing to Malaysia’s wider meetings and conventions ecosystem.

In a statement, BCCK said the year’s performance was driven by close collaboration with clients and industry partners, with a focus on service delivery, event outcomes and measurable local economic impact.

Throughout 2025, BCCK hosted a wide range of international and domestic events, including scientific congresses, policy forums, exhibitions and community programmes.

Major events included the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Conference 2025, International Energy Week 2025, Sustainable & Renewable Energy Forum (SAREF) 4.0, International Digital Economy Summit (IDECS) 2025 and several other regional and global congresses.

In total, more than 370,000 attendees and delegates passed through BCCK in 2025, generating professional exchange, new networks and visitor economy benefits for Kuching and Sarawak.

BCCK also reported a strong public response to its annual Ramadhan programme, with more than 53,000 diners attending Juh Sungkei di BCCK in 2025, reflecting consistent operations and sustained community support.

The centre estimated an economic impact of RM57 million for Sarawak in 2025, a 26 per cent increase from 2024, attributed to visitor spending, engagement with local suppliers, and employment across the business events value chain.

Looking ahead, BCCK said it had secured a pipeline of international and regional events for 2026, including the Asia Pacific Aerospace Conference & Exhibition (APACE) 2026, World Polymer Congress (IUPAC MACRO 2026) and the Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference & Exhibition (APGH) 2026, among others.

According to the chief operating officer, Rayner Simon, the centre remained focused on delivering stronger outcomes for Kuching, Sarawak and Malaysia in the coming year.

“2025 was built on teamwork, from clients and partners to the people behind the scenes. We remain focused on delivering an even stronger 2026,” he said.

Furthermore, BCCK added that the preparations were underway for BCCK2, an expansion project targeted for completion by 2027, aimed at increasing capacity to host larger international events and strengthening Sarawak’s long-term capability in the global business events sector.
