TOKYO: The Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) has acquired a 10 per cent stake in Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd through a share transfer memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The share transfer agreement marks a significant milestone for economic growth, community development, and sustainable initiatives in Sarawak.

The MoU was officially signed during a ceremony here, yesterday (Dec 17).

Representing their respective organisations were Pertama Ferroalloys chairman and managing director Hirotaka Suzuki and BDA general manager Datuk Muhamad Yakup Kari. Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg witnessed the signing.

This partnership builds on previous collaborations between Pertama Ferroalloys and BDA, including the successful launch of the Bamboo Planting Project in November 2023, which reflected their shared commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation.

“This initiative will enhance the wellbeing of the local community and serve as an example for organisations and leaders to spearhead sustainable initiatives in Sarawak, in line with the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” he said.
