MUKAH: Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine advised villagers affected by floods to be prepared to evacuate to relief centres if the situation worsens.

Royston was at Kampung Judan, here Thursday morning to check on the flood situation at the village where water level had risen following continuous heavy rain.

“I hope they will be patient in facing the situation,” he said while commending the Mukah District Disaster Management committee for their preparedness in facing the floods.

He later then joined Saberkas Tellian branch members to distribute basic necessities to the flood victims in the village.

Earlier, he visited Kampung Penat, where he met the villagers to discuss projects to be implemented in the village.

He was accompanied by officials from Mukah Division Public Works Department (JKR) and Dalat district office. They later visited the site for a proposed project in the village.

In the afternoon, Royston attended a meeting with Mukah Division Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) officials to discuss on rural transformation projects (RTP) to be implemented by the department this year.
