MIRI: The community here has been urged to remain vigilant regarding the presence of dengue fever and rabies.

Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin mentioned that the cases of dengue fever and rabies pose significant dangers due to their high mortality rates.

Hence, he reminded the people to take proactive measures to prevent these diseases.

“I urge all residents here to be vigilant against Aedes mosquito bites and not allow stagnant water to collect in containers.

“As for rabies, dog owners should ensure that their pets are not released or allowed to roam outside their residential areas. If they want to take their dogs out, they should be accompanied,” he said.

He said this during the Safety, Health, Dengue, and Rabies Prevention programme organised by the Milea Eastwood Phase 2 Residents’ Association here today.

Lee stressed such programmes are important to enhance awareness, safety, understanding, and skills in preventing and controlling dengue fever and rabies occurrences within residential areas and neighbourhoods.

On another development, Lee, who is also the Senadin assemblyman, said that he would consider and promptly approve further requests by the residents’ committee.

Among the requests made were the installation of traffic lights at the main intersection of Taman Milea; the construction of a recreational park; an outdoor gym; street lighting installations; issues related to park maintenance and cleanliness, and others related to maintenance work.
