SIBU: Sarawakian beauty queen and entrepreneur, Anysia Sharon, has been appointed state director of the newly launched Mrs Of Malaysia-Borneo, a platform celebrating and empowering mothers across Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan.
Anysia, a mother of four, said the platform is designed to give women an avenue to grow personally while representing their communities at a higher level.
“We are not just looking for a face. We are searching for an icon,” she said, adding that the competition aims to showcase the strength, culture and intelligence of mothers from Borneo at the national Mrs Of Malaysia stage.
Anysia brings extensive experience in pageantry and event management.
Her past titles include Ratu Kebaya SIDS (2016), Indai Kumang RPJ (2017) and Mrs Sarawak (2018).
She has also served as an ambassador for Sarawak Paperbeads and Kebahtea Model, and previously held the role of assistant state director for Miss Grand Sarawak from 2018 to 2020.
She currently heads Borneo’s Finest Event Management and Shavas Enterprise.
Supporting the organisation is her son, Tristhan Luke, who serves as manager of Borneo’s Finest Event Management and event manager for Mrs Of Malaysia-Borneo.
He is also a finalist in The CatwalkMaster Asia competition representing Malaysia.
The pageant will feature several segments including a cultural showcase where contestants will model the buriek, a traditional beaded attire of the Iban community, in collaboration with NancyDanish Boutique.
Other segments include an evening gown round and a public speaking session to assess advocacy and communication skills.
Winners of Mrs Of Malaysia-Borneo will advance to the national Mrs Of Malaysia competition, with the overall winner also taking on an ambassadorial role and receiving opportunities to further develop in professional modelling.
Registration for the competition is currently open to mothers from across Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
