KUCHING: Fanry Bori, 32, from Serian has been given assistance by charity organisation Hope Place Kuching (Hope Place) to ease his and the family’s burden.
Fanry, who is bedridden, is receiving monthly financial aid of RM200 from the Social Welfare Department. The Social Security Organisation (Socso) also gave him a wheelchair and a one-off contribution of adult diapers.
Meanwhile, Hope Place is supplying Fanry with adult diapers, some basic food aid, and ripple mattress — a type of mattress to prevent bedsores.
A concerned member of the public, who informed Hope Place of Fanry’s plight, volunteered to deliver the food aid to the family once every three months as Fanry’s village is far from Kuching and out of Hope Place’s coverage area.
Fanry, who lives with his parents at Kampung Riih Daso, was involved in an accident in 2017. He injured his spinal cord, and is still bedridden despite undergoing surgery.

The accident occurred when he was on his way back home from work. The road was slippery and Fanry’s motorcycle skidded.
He used to be a gardener at SMK Serian but is now unable to earn any income for himself or his parents. His father Bori Bungul, 61, is a farmer and has to do extra odd jobs to support the family. Fanry’s mother Nyakun Lisis, 64, is taking care of him.
The family is living in a house that belongs to Fanry’s father. Some parts of the house are still incomplete due to the family’s financial constraints. The back of their house is incomplete, especially the bathroom and toilet areas. Currently, they only have an out-house toilet, which is partly covered with a piece of zinc.
Those who wish to contribute can contact Hope Place at 082-505 987. Opening hours are from 8.30am to 5.30pm from Mondays till Fridays and 8.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
