KUCHING: For the first time in Sarawak, 240 guests will have the chance to ride a professional hot air balloon at Borneo Empurau Farm & Resort (BEFR), with drone photography capturing the adventure from above.
The event, scheduled from December 24 to 26, is a special initiative by Borneo Empurau Farm & Resort Sdn Bhd.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Jerry Yong, said the hot air balloon experience is being introduced as a trial to gauge public interest.
“We have arranged one balloon for this initial event, accommodating up to 220 kilogrammes per ride. Depending on guest size, this allows two to four passengers per flight. If the response is positive, we plan to expand with more balloons in the future,” he said.
Tickets are priced at RM188 for adults and RM99 for children, with sessions from 7:00 am to 10:00 am and 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm each day.

Guests can also enjoy night camping on-site, offering scenic views that complement the aerial adventure.
In addition to the balloon ride, professional drone photography will be available to capture the experience, making it ideal for couples celebrating engagements or families wanting memorable keepsakes.
“Each ride lasts around five to seven minutes, and safety is our top priority. Weather permitting, we may also extend the event or offer additional sessions,” Yong added.
He hopes the event will offer families, couples and thrill-seekers a unique opportunity to enjoy panoramic views of the landscape.
For ticket bookings and enquiries, guests can register directly at Borneo Empurau Farm & Resort or pay on-site, subject to availability.
Meanwhile, Zaidi Tulos, 38, became the first individual to receive a free family package entry voucher to Borneo Empurau Farm & Resort.
The Kuching native won the voucher after correctly answering several questions during his visit to the BEFR exhibition booth at Plaza Merdeka, held in conjunction with the Star Cuti-Cuti Malaysia Carnival.
“I’m very happy and didn’t expect to win a free entry voucher to BEFR. I’ve never been there before and only learned about the farm, known for breeding Malaysia’s most expensive fish, through social media,” said Zaidi when met after the brief voucher presentation officiated by Yong.
Also visiting the BEFR booth were Batu Kitang’s State Assemblyman, Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, and BEFR’s Director, Abdullah Jawawi
