Actress Bella Dowanna has rarely been linked to romance rumours since entering the entertainment industry, and she intends to keep it that way.
The 23-year-old actress, who prefers to keep her personal life private, said she was not closed off to finding a life partner, but believed relationships should develop naturally.
For Bella, respect, good manners and effective communication are more important than sweet talk when it comes to winning her heart.
“There are many ways people try to approach and get to know me, but what attracts me is when someone makes an effort that is different from the rest.
“The quickest way to win me over is through good communication. You can ask me out for a meal, but start with a polite message,” she said.
Bella, however, remained tight-lipped about her current relationship status, saying she preferred not to reveal too much about her love life.
“I don’t want to show too much because people might try to ‘steal’ the relationship. Relationship stealers are everywhere these days, so you have to be careful. Sometimes, the enemy is closer than you think,” she said.
She also urged women to stay away from becoming the third party in someone else’s relationship and to have the courage to leave situationships that have no clear future.
“I don’t like situationships. I’ve seen many of my friends get hurt because of them. If you know the relationship is going nowhere, why stay? Walk away.
“Women need to be firm and have principles. Sometimes, it is difficult to let go because we become emotionally dependent, but we have to be strong enough to choose ourselves,” she said.
Meanwhile, Bella is dividing her time between acting and organising events through her own company.
She also hopes to take on more challenging roles after appearing mainly in romantic comedies, with her last serious role being in the 2020 film ‘M4M4’.
“I want to explore heavier roles so people can see that I am capable of taking on serious characters while still being able to do romantic comedies,” she said.
