KUCHING: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sarawak held its first leadership meeting of 2025 last Saturday.

The meeting, chaired by Bersatu Sarawak chief Jaziri Alkaf Abdillah Suffian, took place in Kuching.

The meeting’s primary agenda was to appoint members of the Bersatu Sarawak leadership for the 2024-2027 term.

This process aligns with Articles 16.4 and 16.5 of the party’s constitution.

The appointments follow the selection of the state chief and deputy state chief by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

In a related development, the appointments of the state Armada (Youth) chief and state Srikandi (Women) chief are to be finalised by the respective wing leaders.

According to Article 16.7 of the party’s constitution, these positions will automatically make the appointees members of the state leadership.

Discussions also addressed the nation’s current political landscape, emphasising the need for leaders at the division and branch levels to adopt a more aggressive approach in championing service-oriented politics, particularly in rural Sarawak.

Bersatu Sarawak reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the party’s vision of leading 21st-century politics, a goal articulated by Muhyiddin during his keynote and closing speeches at the 7th Bersatu Annual General Assembly late last year.
