JAKARTA: Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) is expanding its regional footprint by targeting Indonesia’s corporate meetings and corporate incentives (CMCI) market through a strategic visit to Jakarta recently.

With direct flights now connecting Jakarta and Kuching, BESarawak is leveraging on improved accessibility to position Sarawak as a leading destination for business events.

The bureau held the Sarawak Business Events Product Update Session on June 23 in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia Jakarta, attracting over 60 travel agents and event organisers from across Indonesia.

BESarawak Chief Executive Officer Amelia Roziman said the Indonesian market holds immense potential for Sarawak’s business events industry.

“As businesses across Indonesia seek impactful destinations for their meetings and incentive trips, Sarawak emerges as a compelling choice.

“We welcome both Indonesian corporates and international firms based in the country.

“Our forward-thinking approach aligns well with Indonesia’s vibrant business community,” she said.

On the other hand, Manager of Business Development CMCI Adrian Goh Sze Liang echoed this, noting that the initiatives have opened new doors for cross-border collaboration.

“By capitalising on direct connectivity, we’re focusing on offering meaningful and unconventional experiences for discerning corporate clients in Indonesia,” he said.

In addition to the product update session, BESarawak also participated in Travel Meet Asia (TMA) 2025 from June 25 to 26 at Swissotel PIK Avenue, Jakarta.

The event, organised by Messe Berlin (Asia Pacific), brought together key travel professionals from various sectors, including business events, luxury travel, and corporate tourism, to explore opportunities and forge strategic partnerships.

These engagements are part of wider efforts to boost international arrivals ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and are in line with the ‘Sarawak: Gateway to Borneo’ campaign under the Sarawak Tourism Board.
