BELADIN: The Beting Maro Carnival (KBM) 2025 is a key platform to promote agricultural, fisheries, and local products in rural areas, while strengthening the people’s economy.

In stating this, Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi said the carnival not only showcased products and exhibitions from farmers and entrepreneurs but also created opportunities for knowledge sharing and learning among visitors.

“The Beting Maro area is rich in apong or nipah-based products such as gula apong, which is highly valued in Sarawak.

“Through programmes like this, we want to provide local entrepreneurs with the opportunity to improve their products and increase their income,” he said when representing Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the opening of KBM 2025 at Dataran Temenggung Kadir, here yesterday.

Julaihi added that efforts to develop rural areas must progress in tandem with urban growth to ensure Sarawak advances comprehensively and improves the living standards of its people.

Meanwhile, Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor said the carnival could uplift the economic standing of traders, expand opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs, and strengthen business networks in the area.

“Government agencies also have the opportunity to provide exposure and education related to policies, strategies, and facilities available for agricultural entrepreneurs in the area,” he said.

In addition to showcasing local products, KBM 2025 also featured cultural performances, traditional games, food fairs, and local produce sales.

The event also promoted sports and cultural activities as attractions for tourism within the Beting Maro constituency.
