BELADIN: The Beting Maro Carnival (KBM) 2025 concluded on a high note at Dataran Temenggung Kadir, Beladin, on Sunday.

The closing ceremony was officiated by Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor.

The programme, which ran from Sept 6 to 14 was described as bringing significant benefits to the community around the Pusa District through a variety of activities, including seminars, courses, regattas, local product promotions, sales, and public stage performances.

According to Razaili, KBM not only enlivened the community atmosphere but also created economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

“The Beting Maro area is rich in natural resources based on the nipah or apong palm. Apong sugar products from Kampung Tambak, Pusa, are among the best in Malaysia.

“To elevate this industry, I will establish a factory in Kampung Tambak to help the community continue to succeed in the nipah and apong industry,” he said.

Meanwhile, Batang Lupar MP Mohamad Shafizan Kepli said that the organisation of KBM served as a platform to unite the local community.

“Through KBM, residents can not only enjoy entertainment but also engage with government agencies to obtain the latest information, including opportunities for youths to improve their skills through Centex.

“We are also grateful to the Premier of Sarawak for the free education initiative coming in 2026, which the younger generation should seize,” he said.

He also urged the people of Beting Maro to maintain harmony and unity regardless of religion or race, as the area is akin to one big family.

The highlight of KBM, the Saribas River Regatta, also received an overwhelming response, with the Burung Garuda team emerging as the winner and crowned the 2025 King of the Saribas River.

Second place went to Barracuda, followed by Sri Berjaya Sayang Saribas in third and fourth place, and Landas Azam Kasihnya Warisan in fifth.
