PUSA: Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor has outlined plans to transform his constituency into a hub for food, agriculture, livestock, and fisheries production.
He said that RM4 million has been allocated for this initiative, which includes the construction of a processing plant for agriculture-based products.
The initiative will focus on producing frozen food, handicrafts unique to Beting Maro, fruit juices, and livestock such as cattle, goats, and poultry.
“The agriculture sector holds significant potential to boost local yields and enhance the community’s economy.
“We encourage residents to seize this opportunity by participating in these efforts to develop and expand these products for the market,” he said during a meeting with the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Beladin on Sunday (Dec 15).
Razaili also emphasised the role of cooperatives in driving this initiative alongside the JKKK, urging them to take the lead in ensuring its success.
He reiterated the government’s readiness to support Sarawakians, particularly those in Beting Maro, who wish to venture into agriculture-based industries.
He noted that the area is well-suited to becoming a centre for food production derived from agriculture and fisheries.
