PUSA: Kampung Tambak, located in the Beting Maro area, has emerged as the largest producer of gula apong in Malaysia, bringing national recognition to the area.

Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor said the high-potential product should be fully leveraged, as it can improve the local economy and expand the market reach of local products to a higher level.

“In Beting Maro, we are very fortunate that Kampung Tambak is the largest producer of apong or nipa-based products in Malaysia.

“This product is in high demand and has great potential to be marketed more broadly,” he said when attending a recent meeting with village chiefs and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) branch leaders in the Beting Maro constituency recently.

He added that gula apong not only represents the identity of the area, but also has the potential to drive socio-economic development for rural communities through agriculture and small enterprises.

As such, he urged the local community to seize the opportunities provided by the government through various initiatives, and to strengthen the competitiveness of gula apong products so that they continue to be a source of pride for Beting Maro on the national stage.
