Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, being welcomed by the people in Penom, Paku on his arrival for the ‘Leader-with-People’ session.

PENOM, Betong: Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Haji Johari Tun Openg allocated almost RM150 million for 11 key projects approved by the state government to be implemented in Betong Division.

He announced the allocation during the ‘Leader-with-People’ session held at Rumah Francis Nyanggau in Penom, Paku, Betong yesterday.

Of the 11 key projects, six involve the construction and upgrading of roads in the division, namely Jalan Sekatap-Meribong-Nanga Jelau-Jelau Atas-Batu Lintang project which would cost RM12 million; Jalan Ijok–Teguyu-Lempaong-Batu Persok-Rantau Layang-Perdu project (RM69 million); Jalan Sungai Sibau-Ulu Padeh-Ulu Skrang-Nanga Muman-Perdu (RM14.5 million); Jalan Ulu Paku-Kerenjang-Ulu Krian-Ulu Kota-Pakan (RM20 million); Jalan Penom-Ulu Bayor-Danau (RM15 million); and Jalan Penebak Ulu-Lega-Rumah Sang Entabai (RM5 million).

The remaining projects include the construction and upgrading of Spaoh Sub-District Office (RM5 million); contruction of a bridge across Sungai Paku Jalan Tanjung Sebekut Spaoh (RM3 million); Rumah Nanga Buai (RM450,000); Spaoh football field (RM500,000); and the construction of Betong rural market (RM5 million).

Abang Johari said these projects were part of the efforts to further develop the rural areas in terms of infrastructure.

“I will continue the efforts of the former Chief Minister, the late Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem on rural development,” he said.
Abang Johari’s visit to Penom is his first to Betong since becoming the Chief Minister.

Also present were the Chief Minister’s wife, Datin Amar Dato Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, former Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang, Deputy State Secretary Datu Haji Ismawi Ismuni and other distinguished guests.
