BETONG: Betong Division Resident Datuk Richard Micheal Abunawas has called on local residents to come out in full force to support their respective contingents.

He said community presence and encouragement are vital in boosting athlete morale at the Sarawak Games (SUKSAR IV) 2026.

Richard said the presence of spectators and supporters would not only motivate athletes but also enliven SUKSAR making it a sporting event that is both highly competitive and rich in the spirit of unity and togetherness.

“The attendance and support of the local community will give added encouragement to the athletes and help create a vibrant atmosphere throughout SUKSAR IV 2026,” he said

He made these remarks at the opening of SUKSAR IV 2026 at the Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall, here today (Feb 4).

Richard noted that the participation of athletes from all corners of Sarawak reflects the strong sense of unity and togetherness that forms the foundation of the state’s strength.

“Although they compete against one another on the field of play, all participants share the same goal — to elevate the standard of sports in Sarawak and to develop athletes who are disciplined, full of integrity and highly competitive,” he said.

Richard also expressed hope that athletes would compete in the true spirit of sportsmanship, show mutual respect and regard SUKSAR IV 2026 as a meaningful and valuable experience in their sporting development.
