BETONG: As excitement builds for the 2025 Sarawak Premier League, the Betong Division Football Association (BDFA) will hold player trials on Aug 2 and 3 to unearth fresh local talent for their squad.

BDFA president Abang Suhordie Abang Zaini announced that the association will hold player selection trials on Aug 2 and 3.

Abang Suhordie said the two-day selection will be held at the Betong Sports Complex and will be overseen by Abdul Rahman, Betong’s head coach.

“Our (BDFA) player selection will take place on Aug 2 and 3 at the Betong Sports Complex.
The selection will run from 2 pm to 6 pm and will be led by Abdul Rahman,” Abang Suhordie told Sarawak Tribune.

He also called on all players aged 17 and above to come forward and participate in the trials.

Abang Suhordie believes that there is a wealth of young talent in the division that can be showcased in the prestigious league.

The 2025 Sarawak Premier League was introduced by the Sarawak Football Association (FAS) with the goal of revitalising grassroots football in the state.

The league is expected to run from September to November this year.

Matches will follow a home-and-away format.

The competition will involve 12 divisions across the state: Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit, Bintulu, Mukah, Miri, and Limbang.
