BETONG: The Betong Scout District has honoured 72 Commissioners, Scout Leaders and District Scout Council members today (Aug 16) in recognition of their outstanding service and commitment to the scouting movement, as part of celebrations marking 111 years of scouting in Sarawak.
The commemorative medals presentation ceremony, held at Dewan Sinaran, SMK Spaoh, here also saw 33 others receiving the Distinguished Service Medals for their contributions to scouting and the wider community.
Sarawak Scout Council vice president Colonel Jumaat Ibrahim congratulated the award recipients and praised their perseverance, leadership, and positive impact.
“Your achievements are a testament to your dedication and the positive impact you have made in the Scout movement and your communities in Betong.
“Your efforts inspire us all and show the true spirit of Scouting – to be prepared, to serve, and to make a difference,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to the organising committee whose behind-the-scenes efforts ensured the success of the ceremony.
“The highest appreciation of the Scouts Association of Malaysia, Sarawak Branch, goes to everyone involved in preparing today’s event. The energy and dedication poured into this occasion have been truly commendable,” he said.
Jumaat reminded the honourees to view the recognition not as the culmination of their journey but as a stepping stone toward greater service and leadership.
“Scouting is about growth, leadership, and above all, service. Let us continue to push boundaries, support one another, and inspire the next generation of Scouts in Betong and across Sarawak,” he added.
